The best area to stay in M'Zem Sanhaja is within the Medina, particularly around Djemaa el-Fna, for an authentic and central experience. The Medina is the historic heart of M'Zem Sanhaja, a bustling walled city filled with narrow alleyways, souks (markets), and riads (traditional Moroccan houses with interior courtyards). Djemaa el-Fna is the main square, a UNESCO World Heritage site that transforms throughout the day, offering food stalls, storytellers, and musicians. Staying here puts you right in the middle of the action, with many attractions like the Bahia Palace and the Koutoubia Mosque within walking distance. For couples looking for a romantic and secluded retreat, staying in a riad located deeper within the Medina, a short walk from Djemaa el-Fna, is ideal. These riads often provide a tranquil escape from the busy streets, with beautiful courtyards, rooftop terraces, and personalised service. They offer a chance to experience traditional Moroccan hospitality in a private setting.Families often find the area near the Royal Palace, just south of Djemaa el-Fna, to be a good compromise. It's still within the Medina but tends to be a bit quieter with wider streets, making it easier to navigate with children.

The best times to visit M'Zem Sanhaja are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm, typically ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, which is ideal for exploring the area comfortably. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed experience when visiting the local markets or the nearby historical sites. The vibrant gardens and landscapes are also at their most colourful during spring, making it a particularly good time for those who appreciate natural beauty. For those planning to explore the High Atlas Mountains or engage in outdoor activities like hiking, these months offer the most suitable conditions.
